Our core values are characteristics that we feel are imperative to our unique vision and gives us direction and strategies to engage the culture through The Volume Church .
1. Prayer Dependence
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another. That ye may be healed. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much.” (James 5:16)
We seek our deepest delight in Jesus Christ and acknowledge that we can do nothing apart from him (John 15:5). Our desire is to abide in him constantly, “[praying] at all times in the Spirit” (Eph. 6:18). Therefore, we will be intentional to build prayer into the visible life of the organization at all levels and to cultivate a shared life together of living by faith in God’s future grace for us.
2. Discipleship through teaching
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
We place an extreme emphasis on an exposition of the scripture because through them we understand that men are saved. We devout ourselves to a constant “search of the scriptures daily…” (Acts 17:11) In them we find the guidance and examples that have been perfected by the Lord Jesus Christ in his guidance of the disciples. We take these truths and unpack them to the body. Sharing the aim, of showing off the sovereignty and supremacy of God through faith, submitting to the authority of the scripture.
3. Doctrine-Duty Concept
“But be ye hearers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22)
As fellow “partakers of Christ” (Hebrews 3:14) we devout ourselves as bondservants of Christ. With true dedication and honor we strive to live out the things we teach. We align ourselves to be living epistles read of all men. We take the lessons learned through scriptures, by the grace of God, and immediately and intentionally apply them to our daily walk.
4. Theological Reflection
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15)
With our vibrate love of the scripture, we contextualize the text without taking away from the authenticity of the Holy Word. The challenge is to keep the integrity of a theological teaching but yet reflect the true attributes of God. Within the teaching also to be relevant to the culture “to understand the times and know what to do“. (1 Chronicles 12:32)
5. Wartime Approach to Life and Ministry
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12).
“No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him” (2 Timothy 2:4).
“And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' 20 But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God" (Luke 12:19-21).
As a nation during wartime focuses its collective resources on winning the war, so also we seek as individuals and an organization to focus our resources on the goal of achieving our shared mission. We believe that this involves pursuing strategic simplicity with regard to non-essentials in order that more resources may be channeled to the war effort. As individuals, each person must determine for himself how the Lord wishes for him to live out a war-time lifestyle. As an organization we will seek a wartime approach not only in the use of resources but also in pursuing strategies and processes that are effective in winning the war.(adopted from desiring god.com)
6. Bombing The Hood
“…and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”(Acts 2:8)
We will continually and passionately spread “the fame of him” (Luke 4:14) to the lost. As we except the call of the Great Commission we endeavor to spread the name of Jesus to those we encounter. We seek to be mission- minded as we search the scriptures for the best strategies to spread the gospel.
